Well done to Beatrice who won the U11 doubles at a Grade 1 national championship in West Hants over the summer.
Gabriella M, Year 11
Gabriella M, Year 11
A big well done to Gabriella who was selected to represent the South East Region at the British Cycling Interregional Games at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow. She specialised in the sprint events, setting a PB in the flying 200m to qualify in 2nd place. She progressed through the knockout rounds into the final where she narrowly lost.
In the keirin event she progressed through 2 qualifying rounds and into the final where she finished 3rd in a very tight photo finish.
In the Team Sprint and the 3k Team Pursuit her team qualified for the bronze medal rides and won both finals.
Gabriella has been offered places on the British Cycling National Schools of Racing for the track sprint pathway and road/track endurance. She’s opted for the endurance side but will also do some specific sprint NSR sessions as well.
She was also selected for the South East team for the Road interregional race in Wiltshire. Her team secured 3rd place in both the team time trial and Crit race events.
Harper C, Year 8
Harper C, Year 8
Well done to Harper who has had a great season for Surrey.
Although normally the U18 Women’s cricket doesn’t accept 12 year olds, Harper received permission to play up a few weeks after her 12th birthday and was selected to open the batting for Richmond against Spencer. The Spencer team had a number of very good county players. Harper had the highest score on both sides and was retired not out after hitting 51 off 52 balls which included 9 fours.
