"PHS's elite sportswoman programme is one of the best"

Tatler Schools
September 2019

Sport is a big part of life at Putney and we encourage everyone to participate. Girls take part in sport to have fun, to keep fit, to enjoy the challenge of competition and the camaraderie of being part of a team. Whether you are a complete beginner or an elite athlete, we cater to all skill levels and want our students to achieve the best they possibly can.

Our Elite Sportswomen programme has been designed to support girls in managing their workload alongside the daily demands of busy training schedules. Students benefit from a designated mentor tracking their progress, with half termly workshops on sports related issues such as nutrition, injury and sports psychology.

Over 50 girls attend training sessions and Putney are proud to be GDST champions of 2018.

Two training sessions per week take place at Wimbledon Athletics Track and pupils regularly qualify for the Regional Track and Field Cup.

One pupil recently won gold at the English Schools Inter 1500m.
