It may be one of the newer additions to the sports curriculum, but cricket’s popularity amongst students has grown year on year. With multiple hard and soft ball teams, and the installation of indoor cricket nets allowing for year-round training, Putney students are already playing at a high level and are being selected for county clubs.

Rowing is hugely popular and our boathouse on Putney Embankment benefits from one of the most prestigious locations on the River Thames.

We have multiple squads formed from Year 8-13 students. There are social and performance tiers in each age group and a professional team of coaches, including a high-performance coach.

Putney rowers have gone on to row for GB, in the Oxford and Cambridge boat race and ‘across the pond’ at Princeton University, USA.

Future Olympians, start here.

Table Tennis

A recent addition to our student’s sporting repertoire, table tennis is fast becoming a popular choice for students across the Senior School. With one Year 7 student playing for England and a National 2nd Place already under our belt, the future looks bright for Putney players…

But whatever you do, just don’t call it ping pong!

Playing tennis is a social and fun activity. With many students playing tennis to a competitive level, Putney participates in national and regional competitions. Putney students are often selected to be Wimbledon ball girls and have previously been National LTA Champions.
