Achievements, In the Press, News, Senior School, Sixth Form

Our student leadership team are elected annually and serve from May to May. They play an essential role in the running of the school acting as an important bridge between students and the teaching body and heading an impressive team of prefects.

This year Putney’s student community has voted to replace the term “Head Girl Team” with  “Head Student Team”.

We would like to congratulate:

Ikram Nur who becomes our new Head Student (pictured third from right)

along with (from left to right):

Lara Tanner
Frankie Keller
Emma Ainsby
Annabel Marshall
Liv Crawshaw

as Deputy Head Students

Find out more about them below.

Ikram Nur - School Captain

I started Putney in Year 12, where I now study Biology, Chemistry and Maths. As an external student, I was nervous about how I would find the school environment but through leading clubs like POCSOC and Ink: Creative Writing Club, and Biology mentoring I have become more confident in myself and my abilities. I have even found a sport I enjoy (tennis)!

All these opportunities have truly built my organisational, team working and leadership skills which I feel are vital for the team. They have changed my character for the better and I hope I can inspire my peers in some shape or form.

Everyone has the ability to grow as a person at Putney and I want to show you that no matter who you are, you can bring positive change.

I am honestly looking forward to what our team can bring this year in supporting our schools’ community.

Lara Tanner

Hi!  I’m Lara and I’m currently studying Physics, Maths, and Chemistry.  I’m hoping to study Chemistry or Materials Science at university.

I am so excited to be a part of the student leadership team, and I’m looking forward to working with students and staff alike to make Putney an even more inclusive and positive environment than it already is.  I aim to work with the rest of the team to build a fun, welcoming, and diverse atmosphere throughout every year within the school.  I also seek to restore the unique Putney spirit that was somewhat dampened through the pandemic and online school.

Putney empowers young people to really explore their interests and offers great opportunities to all students.  I have taken advantage of this by taking on various roles and responsibilities.  I run STEM club, as well as tutoring multiple students, some of whom are still only in primary school!  I also attend a diverse range of extracurriculars, such as Philosophy Society and LGBTQ+ society to broaden my education and perspective.  I am so honoured to have been elected and excited for the year ahead!

Frankie Keller

Hi, I’m Frankie and I’m so honoured to be a part of this year’s team at a school which means so much to me. I take Drama, English, History, and Maths A Level, and I’m hoping to continue Drama or English in my future studies.

Over my time at Putney, I’ve always wanted to fully immerse myself in every opportunity that the school has provided for me, such as running House Drama and Book Club, and also taking part in the school productions. I love participating in our annual showcases, including the Music, Drama, and Poetry Festivals, events which not only show the breadth of activities on offer, but also the talent which thrives in this school.

I hope to provide an approachable face to the student body and act as a constant advocate for everyone’s aspirations, just as Putney has done for me over the years.

Emma Ainsby

Hi, I’m Emma and I’m so excited to be a part of the Student Leadership Team. Since my very first day in Reception I have always looked up to the older students in the school, so I’m really looking forward to leading and inspiring them in the same way the previous teams did me.

I am currently studying Mandarin, Spanish, Geography and Business and to further my love for languages even more, I am taking my Italian IGCSE this year. I plan to also go on and pursue languages at university as I love learning about the vast variety of diverse culture, from history and politics to art and music around the world.

Putney has provided me with a multitude of opportunities from playing in the volleyball team or attending a weekly bridge club, to even going on a choir tour to Budapest. My favourite event of the year is the annual school dance show and I am the current senior school Dance Captain. In addition to this, I am currently Editor-in-Chief of the school’s student magazine A Study in Purple which gives me the chance to champion student voice and read a fantastic range of submissions on a number of interesting topics.

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the school community and use my passion for the school to help make everyone feel happy, confident and included during their time at Putney.

Annabel Marshall

Hi, I’m Annabel and I’m thrilled to be part of this year’s School Leadership Team! I’m currently studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and French at A Level and hope to read Medicine at university.

Since joining Putney in Year 7, I have thrown myself into my studies and extra-curricular activities, especially music. I play the piano, viola, and violin, and have attended the RCMJD since Year 9. At school, I’ve had the chance to take part in so many different clubs and even run some, such as a capella groups and a Young Biologists’ Club, for the younger years. I’ve also represented the school in chamber music and choir competitions.

Putney has helped me to be confident and ambitious and I’m so excited to have this opportunity to work with staff and students to help everyone love the school as much as I do!

Liv Crawshaw

Hi, I’m Liv and I am currently studying chemistry, biology and physics at A Level. In the future, I hope to study medicine at university.

I’ve been a Putney student since reception and have been involved in a number of activities. Currently, I am a member of the school’s first lacrosse team, which has taught me vital collaboration skills that I will bring to this role. Alongside my A Levels, I am also part of the STEM magazine team, which has enabled me to learn about a range of topics that are not explored in lessons.

I am super excited and immensely grateful to be part of the student leadership team! I will be a reliable link between all staff and students as well as bringing an enthusiastic approach to every task. I’ve had a really fab time at Putney and hopefully in this position I can help ensure others do to.
