Putney Appoints Ecologist in Residence

BREATHE, Community, General, Junior School, News, Pastoral, Senior School, Sixth Form

Donations to last year’s Putney Fund have enabled us to engage Dr Helen Miller as our first ‘Ecologist in Residence’, the latest in the school’s residency series which has previously included a Writer, Poet, Musician and Entrepreneur.

Dr Miller has been working in the natural environment since before the new millennium, surveying Ancient Woodland across England and Wales. Helen has worked her way through ecological consultancy from field surveyor to Technical Ecological Director. Throughout her career she has developed and delivered an array of ecological training courses drawing on her extensive experience of diverse habitats and protected species to help people understand and live/work alongside wildlife.

We are very excited that Dr Miller will be joining the school in the new year to take the biophilic classroom project to the next level and expand the school’s ‘Breathe’ environmental programme. With the involvement of students she will put in place a new programme that will last beyond her residency, ensuring not only current but also future students are motivated to increase their knowledge and expertise of ecology.

Thank you to those who have already donated to the Putney Fund 2022/23. Donations to this year’s campaign will be directed to ‘Innovation & Emerging Technologies’. For more information visit our Support Us page.
