Studying Medicine

Fantastic news for our would-be Medics in the current Year 13.

Almost one in five of the Year group are hoping to study Medicine at University.

So far there have been 24 offers to study medicine from universities including King’s College London, University College London, Bristol, Glasgow, St Andrews, Birmingham, Brighton, Newcastle and Nottingham.

And the offers keep rolling in!

Biology Olympiad 2020

Students from Years 12 and 13 took part in the Biology Olympiad this year and our results were our best ever.

The British Biology Olympiad (BBO), organised by the Royal Society of Biology, challenges and stimulates students with an interest in biology to expand and extend their talents. It enables students to demonstrate their knowledge and be rewarded with publicly recognised certificates and medals.

The competition consists of two, 45-minute multiple choice papers to be taken online under staff supervised exam conditions.

Outstanding Results

This year our students received five Gold awards, three Silver awards, one Bronze, one Highly Commended and seven Commendeds – Putney’s best ever performance in the competition.

Two of our top scorers, Misha (pictured above) and Issey are among those who have received offers to study Medicine at King’s, UCL, Nottingham and Birmingham. Our joint top scorer, Chiara has received an offer to read Biological Sciences at the University of Oxford.

Very well done everyone.
