I chose the theme green energy and climate change. My building, The Green Horizon Complex, is designed to house families and mainly aimed to provide rentable spaces for companies in need of office space. By providing a place to work more locally would decrease the amount of commuters who need to travel from Croydon to their workplace. By reducing the amount of commuters and having local work spaces this would encourage quicker and more sustainable modes of transport to get round the neighbourhood, like walking cycling or even scooting.
The Green Horizon Complex is designed with many sustainable and recycled resources, this reduces overall industrial waste. The overall aesthetic of the building shows a range of colours linked to climate change and sustainability, greens and blues, this could also potentially help motivate change in people who see it. This building is also designed with solar panels, a green roof and general vegetation. Solar Panels are a source of renewable energy, green roofs and vegetation help improve surrounding air quality, especially in such a polluted town like Croydon.
