Gardening Club Get Planting

Community, General, News, Pastoral, Senior School

Putney High School’s new Gardening Club began in September and has already had a busy term in the garden. Year 9 are becoming particularly keen gardeners with a fifth of the year group regularly attending and already having established many green-fingered traditions.

Students are picked weekly for the honour of being in the ‘compost team’. The team are in charge of liaising with the kitchen staff to get all of the school’s vegetable peelings from that day to take to the compost bin.

The tree council have kindly donated apple, cherry, pear and plum trees and sloe bushes. Very excitingly the
students have created their garden designs and FOHPS have funded some of their ideas to help them become a reality.

With raised beds, willow domes, a friendship bench and some much needed tools being just some of their generous donations. Our gardens are set to be a real splash of colour this summer!
