BAFTA Winners

On Friday 9 June we awarded the prizes for the Year 8 BAFTA Competition. Students in Year 8 were asked to respond to the following stimuli:

  • Discrimination based on regional accents
  • London Fashion Week – Oxfam second hand fashion show. What is the future of fashion?
  • AI: Chat GPT, AI Art –to what extent is it a force for good or evil?

They were to respond creatively in one of the following formats:

  • Film
  • Radio
  • Art
  • Music
  • Mystery
  • Written

BAFTA Winners

As ever the competition was extremely competitive with students creating remarkable entries across all the categories. It was exceptionally difficult to decide but this years winners were.

Comment from the judge: “Well done for creating a piece of performance art – a piece of AI music which confronted the listener into considering questions like: Is AI music, really music? Does AI music destroy creativity? Does AI Art count as real art?

Comment from the judge: “An incredible pencil drawing of a Robot/Human encouraging the viewer to consider where technology begins and humanity ends”.

Mystery + Overall Winner

Comment from the judge: “Produced a brilliant workbook with studies of various different kinds of AI including art and written material. It was analytical and wide ranging in its exploration of the ethics of AI and whether this was something new, or had precedent in history and how we should embrace it.”
