On Monday 4  November Year 13 Politics students attended a “US Politics Today” Conference at the British Library.

There were lectures delivered by leading academics in their fields including Professor Phillip John Davies, Dr Andrew Moran, Professor Robert McKeever and Dr Cara Rodway. Topics ranged from “Has the Supreme Court become a tool of politics rather than law?” to “Are we now experiencing an Imperilled or Unconstrained Presidency?” to “Do Interest Groups have too much power in US politics?” and “Who might win in 2020, and why?”.

Students also benefited from the insight of two former Congressmen – Luke Messer (R-IN, 2013-2019) and Nick Rahall (D-WV, 1977-2015). They provided valuable insight and comment based on their experiences in US politics in panel discussions after each talk. Lively and engaged discussion and debate flowed throughout the day. Overall it was a really interesting day.
