What Litigators can do about Climate Change – Wendy Miles

Careers, Guests, Interview, Past Events, PIE, Senior School, Sixth Form

With the positive impact of Breathe Week still fresh in our minds, we were delighted to be joined by Wendy J. Miles, QC, partner in the London office of International law firm, Debevoise & Plimpton and a member of the International Dispute Resolution Group.

Ms Miles joined us to discuss the role of litigation in the fight against climate change. She explained, “I don’t work in climate change, I embed it in the industry I’m working in.” She shared with us the recent IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) press release, and discussed the proposed 1.5 degree limit to global warming.

She told us how although making 75% of energy renewable by 2050 sounds like an intimidating target, there are really practical tips on how we can develop our Breathe campaign and make a difference, as individuals and as a school, every single day.
