Time Capsule Gets Re-Buried

Alumnae, Athena, Celebration, Events, General, News, Senior School, Sixth Form

Yesterday saw the re-burying of our centenary time capsule, which was dug up prematurely when the Athena Centre was being built. Mrs Longstaff was joined by members of the History Society and some Year 7 pupils to bury the capsule at the back of the Athena Centre alongside a new one, containing all things 2020s, from Lateral Flow Tests to TikToks.

Both time capsules will be dug up in 2093, to mark the school’s 200 years. When Mrs Longstaff was asked by some Year 7 students whether she would come back to dig up the capsule in 2093… she of course agreed.

Mrs Clegg, Head of Careers and Geography teacher, was a Putney pupil back in 1993, and remembers the original capsule being buried… We wonder if any of our current students will have relatives studying or working at the school when the capsules are dug up in just over 70 years time.
