This year’s Year 9 Opera was Mozart’s The Magic Flute which Year 9 produced and directed almost entirely themselves, in their own version of the classic comic tale.
The plot itself is a tangled web of kidnapping, deceit, thwarted ambition and the search for true love and spiritual fulfilment, all realised brilliantly by the cast and musicians involved.
All girls in the year contributed to the project in a variety of ways and the results were spectacular, with the dramatic set and costumes – all hand made – being a real highlight. Music, drama, art and textiles departments worked together to collaborate on a really spectacular production.
