In Religious Studies, Year 9 took part in the Inspire/Aspire Poster Award, which focused on spiritual values and personal development. The theme was Olympic and Paralympic values and girls chose Olympian athletes, past or present for their poster. They have reflected on the values, characteristics and ideals which have made the athlete successful and which they themselves would like to develop.
From over 37,000 pupil entries nationwide five girls were shortlisted as Southern England national finalists: Emma Andrews, Guilia Battaglia– Trovato, Alexandra Graham, Evie McEvoy and Noa Sturgeon.
They attended the Awards ceremony at a venue overlooking the Olympic Stadium and were thrilled when Guilia was awarded 1st place overall, Emma in 2nd place and Noa was placed joint 4th at Gold Level. They received their medals and certificates from the former Olympian sprinter, Derek Redmond. The school was also presented with a Character Education School Award out of all the 34 schools representing Southern England.
Congratulations to all the individual winners, and also to all Year 9 girls for the overall high standard of their posters, which were all assessed at Gold or Silver level.
