Events, Guests, PIE, Senior School, Sixth Form

Today for PIE at Lunchtime we welcomed Mr Alistair Wood, Executive Vice President of AEG Europe. AEG owns and manages over 100 of the world’s leading venues, spread over five continents and together welcoming 100 million guests to its concerts, festivals and events per year.

Mr Wood explained how AEG transformed the ailing Millennium Dome into the O2 Arena, one of the world’s leading entertainment venues.

The O2 is now the most successful arena in the world in terms of tickets sales,  contributing £840 million to the London economy and supporting 8720 jobs.

Its infrastructure extends to an entertainment village, exhibition spaces, hotels and the MBNA Clipper fleet providing the arena with transport links along with the Emirates Airline, which itself attracts 1.2 million customers per annum.

Thank you for a fascinating glimpse into the world of commercial property development and the entertainment industry.
