The Athena Centre Launch

Celebration, Debating, Drama, General, Guests, Music, News, Past Events, Senior School, STEM

Yesterday saw the much awaited launch of our Athena Centre for Science, Music, Drama and Debating. Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE, Space Scientist and President of the British Science Association, joined us to officially open the building, which students have been using since earlier this year.

Maggie spoke to Years 6, 7, 9 and 10 about her experience and work, our budding scientists very much enjoying hearing her talk about reaching for the stars and the power of a crazy dream.

We then welcomed members of the school and wider community including, the GDST, the building’s architects and our parent donors to take a look around the centre, enjoying musical performances, scientific experiments, drama rehearsals and debating activities while they did so.

Thank you to Maggie for visiting the school and our students for bringing the centre to life.
