After another fantastic year for sport at Putney, we were delighted to be celebrating our annual Sports Awards with guest speaker, Rachael Burford.
“Rachael Burford is a decorated English rugby player. She represented England at the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2017 Rugby World Cups, as well as the 2009 and 2013 Sevens World Cups. In 2014, the year the English roses won gold at the World Cup, Rachael was awarded England Women’s Player of the Year by the Rugby Players’ Association. Rachael was recently part of the England squad that won the Grand Slam at this year’s Six Nations. She is also a major name in the rugby union, where she captained the Harlequins to their first Premier 15s trophy in the 2020-21 season. Off the pitch, Rachael is a strong advocate for female athletes and players’ rights, seen namely through her project, Girls Rugby Club, and her roles within multiple national and international rugby boards.”
Parents of Years 9 – 13 joined us for the event which began with refreshments on the Galbraith Lawn and was followed by speeches and an awards ceremony in the Sports Hall.
