Sixth Former wins trainee position at Schroders

Achievements, Careers, News, Sixth Form

Great news for Alex Butterworth in Year 13. We have just heard she has landed a trainee position in the asset management department of Schroders after four gruelling rounds of interviews.

Alex said:

“I am very pleased to have won a place on the Schroders Traineeship Programme.

Schroders is a global asset and wealth manager, and I first heard about the company after attending a Financial Services taster day in Year 11. I am passionate about Economics and Chinese, so pursuing a career in Financial Services has always seemed like a natural choice for me to leverage these skills, and enable me to work globally.

I am keen on the idea of taking a working gap year to gain some real business experience prior to attending university. After seeing the programme advertised online I sent in my CV in February. I was then required to undertake an online interview, an assessment day, as well as two individual face to face interviews, in between revising for my A-levels!

In the Schroders Traineeship Programme, I will get the opportunity to work in the City and receive formal training from experts inside Schroders and from across the industry.

After my gap year, I plan to read Economics at University. The skills I gain on this traineeship will hopefully enable me work in Financial Services after graduation,  and I feel excited about what my future may hold.”

Alex is taking a year out before applying to read Economics at University. No doubt this new appointment will be a strong step in the right direction.
