Senior School

Putney is a high achieving but down to earth school that offers incredible opportunity through a curriculum that is ‘academic with a very modern edge’

Modern Scholarship

Our ethos of ‘modern scholarship’ makes learning challenging, fun and relevant, allowing students to discover the thrill of intellectual endeavour while building the agile mindset and transferable skills that will prepare them for the future world of work.

They learn to be intellectually agile and entrepreneurial, applying multi-disciplinary knowledge, for example, through a bespoke course in design thinking. They go on to earn sought-after places at top universities and on competitive Degree Apprenticeships, such as in Software Engineering with the likes of Goldman Sachs.

“Putney genuinely manages to blend a holistic, well-rounded education with academic ambition, giving its students that critical balance between the pursuit of excellence and the pursuit of joy.”

Jo Sharrock, Head

Wellbeing

Putney is a warm and welcoming school with a culture of kindness that allows every individual to thrive, both personally and as a valued member of a diverse and inclusive school community.

Our holistic approach to wellbeing builds awareness and helps students to develop a healthy sense of self, focusing not only on their own wellbeing, but on their impact on and responsibility to others, and the wider environment.

“Kinder, friendlier faces you could not imagine.”
– The Good Schools Guide

It feels as if the teachers (who have their own book club, by the way) have a parallel love of learning. One explains how they ‘bust the educational myths and ask the bigger questions.’
The Good Schools Guide
“A sense of joy in discovery and challenge underpins our academic excellence, and our students develop a deep sense of self, finding their character and confidence and having fun in the many things they do both in and outside of school.”
Jo Sharrock, Head

Academic Curriculum

A Putney education is intellectually thrilling – a unique brand of modern scholarship which prepares students to excel in their studies, develop as independent learners and to become confident problem-solvers of the future.

Co-curricular Life

Life outside the classroom is just as valuable as learning inside it.

With over 150 clubs and societies, there’s something for everyone – whether it’s Medical Society, Knitwits, Scrabble, or Taekwondo. On Fridays alone, students can choose from 20 activities like Corset-Making, Gardening Club, and Forensic Psychology.

Our extensive co-curricular programme offers a wide range of activities, opportunities, and trips.
