DT: Product Design
With the latest in CAD CAM, 3D printing and laser cutting, our Product Design space, Innovation hub and Design Thinking curriculum allow students to iterate, prototype and solve problems innovatively.
Co-curricular activities include Young Engineers, the CanSat satellite design competition and Jewellery Making clubs. Students enter design competitions, attend the Smallpeice Trust engineering courses and in Year 11, they can apply for the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship which they do with considerable success.
DT: Textiles
Our highly reputed textile design department creates work of an undergraduate standard producing its own fashion show and enjoying inspirational visits from big name designers including Philip Treacy and Deborah Milner.
With two textiles rooms there is full training in everything from basic sewing and machine skills to tailoring, embroidery and a wealth of hands-on making techniques.
For many students, Textiles is taught on rotation for half the year with the other half devoted to Design Technology Product Design.
