Reem Fhail’s Putney Success

Alumnae, General, Guests, Interview, Senior School, Sixth Form, STEM

Putney High School alumna, Reem, came in to talk to us about her Putney experience and tell us all about her plans for the future. She left school this summer and has recently embarked on a new adventure studying medicine at Imperial College London.

Reem joined the school in year 7 and despite remembering ‘feeling very anxious to begin with’  because she didn’t know anybody, she told us how she ‘felt very welcomed and made friends with people [that she is] still friends with today’.

Reem certainly settled into Putney High School incredibly well and took full advantage of the facilities on offer. She was, to no surprise given her chosen career path, a keen member of the medical society. She partook in external maths, biology and chemistry challenges, explored her creativity through textiles, and even turned her hand to rowing at the Putney boat house.

Through a careers fair and speaking to Putney old girls Reem decided medicine was the right career path for her as she felt it provided her with a ‘unique opportunity to apply [her] scientific knowledge to help patients’.

It was a pleasure to see Reem back at Putney and we wish her all the best for her studies at Imperial.

Putney was the place that provided me with the opportunities to pursue my desired career, it also was the place that I learned valuable lessons and made life-long friends
