Putney High Choral Society Grand Concert 2023

Alumnae, Alumnae Events, Music, News, Performance, Senior School, Sixth Form

Last week’s concert featuring the Putney High Choral Society was nothing short of spectacular. The event showcased the talents of four soloists supported by a professional orchestra, with the choir made up of a diverse group of alumnae, former staff, current pupils, current parents, and current staff. All of this was seamlessly brought together by the Director of Music, Robert Patterson, who ensured that everyone was in harmony and kept in line.

The concert was a true celebration of music, with each soloist delivering an exceptional performance. Annabel M on the piano, Caitlin W on the cello, and Annabel B on the soprano solo were all outstanding in their respective roles. Additionally, we had the pleasure of a guest opera singer, Thomas Nieẞer, whose performance was truly breathtaking. It was an evening of enchanting music that left everyone spellbound.

The success of the concert was not just due to the outstanding performances of the soloists and the choir but also to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. The hours of practice and preparation that went into the event were evident in the flawless execution of the performances. It was a true team effort, and we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their time and efforts.

The concert was dedicated to the memory of Julie Sharp, a former Head of English, and a much-missed member of the Putney High Choral Society. Miss Sharp taught at Putney High for over 30 years until she retired in 2016, but she will always remain a part of our community.
