Putney wins National Cross Country Final

 The Junior and Inter Cross Country teamscompeted in the National Final at Southend High School for Girls. With over1000 schools starting out in Round 1, it was going to be tough day ahead.

The girls ran brilliantly. Katy-Ann McDonald wonthe inter race comfortably, followed by team captain Kate Brown who finishedthe race in 6th position. Hannah Jusu-Sherif, Maddie Shaw, Tatiana Cooke&Dora Marshall also finished strongly. It was a great team effort and theaccumulated positions meant the team finished as Champions and the top team inEngland.

The junior race was won, again by another Putney runner, Alex Brown. Finishing over a minute ahead of the rest of thefield, Alex lead by example. The team  ran their socks off andfinished 3rd overall. This was a fantastic effort considering Alex is the onlyclub runner in the team. The team of Yasmin Howe, Jennifer Silva, OpheliaO’Flynn, Amelia Casey and Georgia Groves should be extremely proud of themselves.

Well done to all 12 runners for their continued hard workover the last few months. They have shown great commitment, dedication and teamspirit and the purple of Putney High School stood proud on the podium.
