Putney bids adios to Ms Jenny Holl

Celebration, General, News, Senior School, Sixth Form

It is with a heavy heart that after more than 36 years at Putney, we are bidding a fond farewell to Ms Jenny Holl, our Head of Spanish.

Ms Holl joined the school in 1984 as a teacher of French at a time when there were wooden desks with lids and inkwells in the place of iPads and computers. Over her time at Putney Ms Holl became Head of Spanishtaking her students on trips to Seville, Cuba and Costa Rica among others. She also led, Outward Bound groups for a month to Venezuela and Honduras.

Not only a key member of the Modern Foreign Languages department, Ms Holl also served as a Head of Year 10 and 11. As a keen singer she has been a valued member of the choir, taking part in tours around Europe to Lisbon, Venice and Barcelona. And closer to home, as Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator, she has for several years taken pupils on camping weekends to Surrey.

Ms Holl will be sorely missed by staff and students alike. We wish her well as she moves into retirement and we hope to be able to invite her back to say a face-to-face goodbye to students at some point in the future. We know that she will enjoy spending more time with her family, no doubt learning more languages and embarking on many new adventures – we understand that a trip to Patagonia is already in the pipeline.
