We were delighted to welcome Sir Ravinder Maini FRS FMedSci, as our PIE at Lunchtime speaker today.

Sir Ravinder Maini is an Indian-born British rheumatologist and academic who is a professor at the Kennedy Institute, part of Imperial College London.

Professor Maini was instrumental in the development of of biological therapies that revolutionized the treatment of inflammatory diseases. He is considered by many to be the so called “father” of biological therapies, since he applied antibodies in human therapy for the very first time. His outstanding research results greatly contributed to the improvement of the quality of life of patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
