PIE at Lunchtime: Ije Nwokorie, Our Black Histories

Events, General, Guests, News, PIE, PIE talk, Senior School, Sixth Form

This week’s PIE at Lunctime speaker was Ije Nwokorie, a senior director at Apple.

Ije spoke to us via Teams about his life, career and family history.

It was fascinating to hear about his family’s move from Nigeria to the USA in the 1960s and his time spent as a student at Columbia University, New York with a multi-cultural group of friends.

The main message of his talk was an important one about how we view history:

“History isn’t owned, it is ALL our history”.

We should embrace history as an inspirational brief on what we can do with our lives and use it as an example of how we can make change happen.

Thank you for a truly inspirational talk.
