PIE at Lunchtime: Fleur Anderson MP

Events, General, Guests, News, PIE, PIE talk, Senior School, Sixth Form

For this week’s PIE talk, local MP for Putney and Southfields, the Rt Hon Fleur Anderson MP, talked to us about ‘Being a local MP’.

Fleur spoke about her career and answered questions from our students on a variety of topics from if there should be exams next year to what inspired her to become a politician.

She stated that when at university she “read many books by women politicians and activist such as Harriet Harman and Maya Angelou.” These women inspired her to go into politics and achieve her goals.

When asked about the recent governmental decision not to extend free school meals to children during the holidays, Fleur told our students that she will be meeting with the local food banks and community support groups to ensure that “no child in Putney goes hungry this Christmas”.

Thank you to Fleur for taking the time to talk to us, especially given the current political situation with COVID and BREXIT.
