On Air with The Economist Radio – Putney’s Budding Scientists talk “Elements”

General, Guests, In the Press, Interview, News, Senior School

This Spring marks the 150th Anniversary of the creation of the Periodic Table.

Familiar to all the scientists among us, Russian chemist Dimitri Mendeleev is credited with having first arranged the chemical elements by atomic mass, even predicting the discovery of other elements and leaving spaces for them open in his periodic table.

Since then the table has become a familiar fixture in classrooms and science labs all over the world. Our particularly special interactive version of the table attracted the interest of Economist Radio – who came to talk about its impact on Putney’s many budding scientists.

We were delighted to welcome Senior Editor of The Economist, Kenneth Cukier, an expert on all things Science and Technology, as he recorded an episode of his regular “Babbage” podcast for the station.
