Events, Guests, News, Past Events, PIE, Senior School

Did you know that you are eight times more likely to make a purchase if you feel it has been recommended by a friend? And have you ever thought about the planning that goes on behind some of the world’s most recognisable brands?

Today, our PIE at lunchtime talk gave us a glimpse into the world of clothing brand Ted Baker, which along with Ellesse, Speedo and Kickers is just one of the well-known brands under the Pentland umbrella.

Nicola Mathews, Brand Director of the Ted Baker Footwear division of the company, talked to a rapt audience about her journey from studying Maths and Physics to becoming an analyst at Morgan Stanley, to studying merchandising and buying and finally following her passions to move into developing big name brands, Gap, LK Bennett, Hobbs, Karen Millen and now Ted Baker.

Thank you Nicola for your many fascinating insights into”emotive hooks”,”peer-to-peer advocacy,” the impact of”Sports Luxe” on the world of fashion, and fundamentally, the very”Putney” ethos of the importance of”curiosity”.
