Mia Costello

I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of Head Student this year! I’m currently studying Politics, History, and Religious Studies at A Level, along with an EPQ. I hope to study Politics and International Relations at university.
I’ve been at Putney since Year 7 and have loved every minute of my time here. Putney offers a unique and supportive environment that nurtures self-confidence, curiosity, and resilience in all students. Being part of this community has allowed me to challenge myself, acknowledging that failure is part of the process but never something to fear.
Over the last six years, I’ve explored a variety of extra-curricular activities before finding the ones I enjoy. I’ve been rowing since Year 8, and the boathouse has truly become a home away from home. The community and support I’ve received through rowing are things I’ll always be grateful for. In addition to rowing, I’ve been part of the Debating Society since Year 7 and love the chance to look into controversial issues and political discussions.
As Head Student, I aim to help students discover their place at Putney and contribute to further strengthening the supportive environment that we all benefit from. I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the Head Student team to make this year as enjoyable and memorable as possible!

Zaynab Navid

I’m so grateful and excited to be a part of this year’s Head Student Team! I’m currently studying Psychology, English Literature, and Drama, along with a psychology-based EPQ at A Level. I plan to continue with Psychology in the future and hopefully fulfil my dream of becoming a child therapist!
I’ve come to love Putney very much since joining in Year 7 and I’m now more grateful than ever to be part of such a beautiful and welcoming community. I can’t wait to give be able to give back and to immerse myself in being part of such an important role. Being a House Captain and a Prefect has already given me the opportunity to engage with younger years and understand what leadership is like at Putney, so I’m excited to get to know more of you and make sure your voices are heard!
Tying in with one of my A Level choices, I am very passionate about drama-based extra-curricular activities. I have had LAMDA lessons since Year 7, bringing me to working on the final grade this year. As well as this, I run Stark House Drama with some of my peers, and I feel great honour in having been able to co-write this year’s script. I am incredibly proud of our group for winning the House Drama Festival. I truly adore how Putney celebrates the talent of young people. I look forward to my final year at this school and to working alongside such an amazing team!

Jules Engele

I’m so honoured to be a part of this year’s Student Leadership Team! As I joined Putney just last September, it is a dream to be elected to such a position by my peers and teachers. Hopefully, our team will surpass expectations.
I am currently studying A Levels in Drama, Politics, and English, along with an EPQ. I hope to study in the USA for university to explore all my different interests and passions.
In my short time here at Putney, I believe that I have made my mark—whether it be posting on the ASIP Instagram, joining the Lacrosse Thirds team, running Stark House Drama, or taking part in the school musical, Godspell. I am incredibly excited for what next year will bring and to solidify my identity as a Putney Girl.

Martina Buteler

I’m both excited and grateful to be a part of the Student Leadership Team this year! I am currently studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Spanish at A Level, and I’m planning on studying a combination of Biology and Chemistry at university.
I’ve been at Putney since Reception, and throughout my time here, I’ve always been involved in the school community. I’ve had the privilege of being a part of the lacrosse team, leading clubs, and tutoring younger years. I have always found Putney to be one of the most welcoming and inclusive places, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to this community, which has taught me invaluable life lessons such as perseverance and determination.
I’m delighted to be on the team this year, and I look forward to promoting the Putney spirit even further!

Anna Jackson

I’m so excited to be part of the Student Leadership Team this year. I am currently studying Geography, Psychology, German, and an EPQ. I joined Putney in Year 7, and since then it has truly become a second home to me.
I feel incredibly lucky to have had so many amazing opportunities at Putney High, both inside and outside the classroom. The encouragement from staff and my peers has been constant, and that sense of support has allowed me to grow in confidence and be the best version of myself. Putney has made me strive for every opportunity and made me feel empowered to start new things, which led me to set up the Geography Club at school. I run it weekly, and it has become my absolute favourite lunchtime of the week.
As part of the Student Leadership Team, I hope to help ensure that every student has the same wonderful experience that I have had during my time at Putney. I am really looking forward to working alongside the five other amazing members of the Student Leadership Team!

Charlotte Sadler

I’m so excited to be a part of this year’s Student Leadership Team. I study English, History, and Chemistry at A Level, and I’m currently completing an EPQ surrounding global gender equality legislation. Once I finish my time at Putney, I am hoping to study Law at university.
I doubt I would be the person I am today without Putney, and I’m always keen to give back to the community that has offered me so much. Whether this be through being Editor-in-Chief of our school newspaper, A Study in Purple, being an EPQ ambassador, or helping to run FemBookSoc (every Monday, Lunch 1, SR7!), I am a firm believer that Putney is a space where everyone can grow into someone that their younger self would be immensely proud of. Please don’t hesitate to come and speak to me if you ever need anything (I’m also a debater at Putney, so I absolutely love any chance to have a chat!).
I’m thrilled to be able to work alongside this team of truly incredible students over the coming year to ensure that every student at Putney has the support they need to become the best version of themselves.
