SIX – Drama Production

We are still buzzing from the three night run of our school musical, SIX – Teen Edition.

We are still buzzing from the three night run of our school musical, SIX – Teen Edition.

On Wednesday night we were incredibly fortunate to have a special visit from some of the professional members of staff from the SIX West End and SIX Tour company: Lizzie Wootten – Production Coordinator SIX West End, Erin Croasdale – Marketing Coordinator, Sarah Stribley – International Line Producer and Izzy O’Flanagan – former Production Coordinator across SIX West End, SIX Tour and SIX HCP and Film.

They wished our cast good luck and there was an opportunity for questions and informal chats before the show began.

Head of Drama and Director, Emma Crocombe, tells us more about the show.

“I first saw SIX at the Rose Theatre in Kingston in 2018 and ever since, I have wanted to put on the production at Putney. The energy, songs and sense of humour of the production stood out to me and it is no surprise that since then SIX has risen to the height of fame that it now has.

“Starting at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017, Lucy Moss, one of the show’s creator became the youngest female to direct a musical on Broadway in 2020, it is now being performed worldwide and even on Norwegian Cruise Lines. So, when the rights for the Teen Edition was released last year it was only right that we bring it to Putney!

“What was so strong about this production was that with a cast from Years 8 – 11 it has really been a whole school effort. Students from Year 7 up to the Sixth Form were running lighting, sound, costumes and stage management – everyone took on their roles with such gusto – it added to the magic of SIX.

“We have also been able to showcase some of our PHENOMONAL Sixth Form choreographers – Taiwo K, Imogen W and Holly B – choreographing many of the key songs within the show. There has been many times when there were four rehearsals going on at the same time – the courtier choreography, the featured dancers choreography, the lead singer rehearsal and the Queen harmonies.

“On top of this we had so many brilliant staff supporting production – Miss Carrington, our Head of Physics not only choreographed ‘All you wanna do’ but was invaluable throughout. We must thank our brilliant team from the Music department – Miss Blake and Miss Claxon – from the harmonies alone you can hear the amount of work that has gone into rehearsals. Thank you too to all my colleagues in the Drama Department; Miss Rose and Mrs Coulston worked tirelessly on the hair and make up for the show – everyone in our 69 strong cast look phenomenal!

I feel so lucky to work with such amazing colleagues and students who have all come together to create our vision of SIX.”
