We are delighted to announce the new leadership team for our Sixth Form from September 2026. Mr Conor Johnston has been appointed our new Director of Sixth Form and will be superbly supported by our very own Mrs Kellie Brown and Mrs Penny Freeley, who take on the roles as Head of Year 12 and 13 respectively.
Mr Johnston joins us from Woldingham School, where he is Head of Economics. He brings extensive Sixth Form leadership experience as he was previously Director of Sixth Form at Sir William Perkins’s School, and the Assistant Director of Sixth Form at Surbiton High School.
He said: “A Sixth Form should be future-focused, with academic achievement working in tandem with comprehensive well-being support and an extensive co-curricular programme that fosters social development, allowing every student to create their own unique pathway.”
We couldn’t agree more and we are excited that he will be joined in the Sixth Form leadership team by two highly experienced and well-loved members of staff. As you know Mrs Kellie Brown is an exceptional pastoral leader. Moving from her current role as Head of Key Stage 4, Mrs Brown is ideally placed to support our Year 11 students as they progress into our Sixth Form. Mrs Penny Freeley, currently our Head of Geography, will take on the role of Head of Year 13. An experienced sixth form tutor, she is well known by the year group and of course brings with her many years of impressive academic leadership, and invaluable insight supporting our girls as they prepare for their A Level examinations and life beyond Putney High School.
As we ready ourselves to say a huge thank you and farewell to our current team – Mrs Clegg, Mr O’Brien and Mrs Arnold who between them have dedicated 49 years to supporting Putney students, we can also look forward with excitement. For now, of course our efforts are firmly focused on the present, the remainder of this academic year and business as usual!
