Emma
Hi, I’m Emma and I am beyond excited to be taking on the role of Head Student for the upcoming year! I am currently studying Textiles, Biology and Geography at A-level. I joined Putney in Year 7 and almost immediately knew it was the place for me, so having the opportunity to represent the student body, act as a bridge between staff and students, and help foster a positive, ambitious school community is truly an honour. I will always admire Putney’s ability to offer us, as students, the opportunity to explore who we are, what we love, and who we want to become, and I cannot wait to play a bigger role in that alongside this fabulous team.
Throughout my time here, I have loved immersing myself in all areas of extracurricular life at Putney. From sport through lacrosse and dance, to drama through numerous productions and LAMDA, as well as various academic societies, life beyond the classroom has truly shaped my Putney experience. These opportunities have also allowed me to engage with students across different year groups, whether as House Drama Captain or through helping to run the Gym and Dance Show this past year. Both experiences opened my eyes to the incredible joy, creativity and talent present throughout the entire school.
As Head Student, I hope to ensure that every student feels heard, valued and inspired to make the most of their time at Putney. Most importantly, I look forward to giving back to a school that has given me so much and helping to make the year ahead a positive and memorable one for all!
Aliya
Hi, I’m Aliya, and I’m so grateful and excited to part of this year’s head student team! I’m currently studying Drama, History and Geography A-levels, along with a geopolitics-based EPQ as I hope to pursue Geography in higher education.
I joined Putney in Year 7 and during my time here I have been lucky to experience Putney to the fullest, getting involved in all aspects of the school community. From taking part in numerous plays, I was lucky to be awarded the Drama Scholarship going into the Sixth Form and have enjoyed my role as House Drama Captain and helping with Junior School plays. Currently I am directing my own adaptation of Little Women.
Through my role as a prefect, A Study In Purple editor, and running numerous societies including Sociology Society, I have been able to have the opportunity to engage with younger years and understand what leadership is like at Putney and how rewarding it is!
I am so excited to represent such a wonderful, welcoming school community and further connect with a range of Putney students over the next year. I am so thrilled to work alongside such an amazing team and am so excited to contribute to Putney!
Darcey
Hi, I’m Darcey. I am so excited to be a part of this year’s Head Student Team! I am studying Maths, History, Geography along with a history-based EPQ as I plan to do a history degree at university. Putney has had a special place in my heart since year 7 and stepping into the sixth form centre has made me realise even more how amazing and vibrant our Putney community is.
Putney has encouraged me to take every opportunity available, and I have been supported by immense encouragement from the teachers. This has led me to co-running history society, where I am able to interact with younger years and research into topics I am interested in outside of the curriculum. Being in all the available drama productions, a student dancer in Putney does Strictly and participating in rowing up to year 12 have all been incredible experiences.
As part of the Student Leadership Team, I want to ensure that every student experiences the same incredible Putney experience I have been lucky enough to. I hope to be a friendly face to all students, who feel they can come to me with any queries, questions or just to have a chat! I can’t wait to discover what the next year has in store.
Priya
Hi I’m Priya and I am currently studying Psychology, Politics and Textiles alongside a criminology themed EPQ, and I’m so thrilled to be part of such a fabulous team and I can’t wait to begin. I’ve been a proud Putney pupil since Reception and since day one I have loved what we stand for.
I have been so lucky to get stuck into all things Putney from sports teams and gymnastics competitions to dance shows, theatre productions, presenting in psychology club and plenty more opportunities Putney has to offer. Being Stark Charity and Co-Music Captain was so enjoyable as I got to work with other year groups and put together a great song to perform!
By helping to run the Gym and Dance show I have loved to see the passion and energy students bring to Putney life and I love helping to orchestrate events and help contribute to the vibrant Putney community.
I’m so grateful for this opportunity to work together in such a great team.
Sophie
Hi, I’m Sophie and I am so excited to be a part of this year’s Student Leadership Team! Some of you might know me from the many ASIP emails I send or the Chinese club I run (Tuesday Lunch 2 and there’s always snacks), but I hope I get to know even more of you around the school. My A-levels are English, History, Chinese, an EPQ and I’m hoping to study English and History at university next year.
I am so honoured to contribute back to the school which has facilitated my passions, constantly challenged me, allowed me to make amazing friendships and foster meaningful relationships with my teachers. I want to ensure all students have a similarly positive experience and feel supported in both their academics and their wellbeing. If you see me in the corridors, I am always free for a chat! I’m looking forward to hearing honest feedback and ideas for how we can make Putney an even better place.
Zoe
Hi I’m Zoe, and I’m currently studying Maths, Geography and Psychology at A Level alongside a psychology-based EPQ, as I hope to study Psychology at university in the future.
Since Year 7, I’ve loved how Putney encourages everyone to get involved in different parts of school life. Over the years, this has led me from sports teams and school productions to academic societies and even a foreign exchange programme, and many of my favourite memories have come from trying things I never expected myself to do.
I’ve also really enjoyed getting involved in the wider school community through roles such as Burton Science and Eco Captain and Form Captain consecutively through the school. One of the things I love most about Putney is how friendly and supportive the environment is, whether that’s through big events or just small everyday moments around school.
Putney has helped me grow hugely in confidence while still keeping the enthusiasm and curiosity I arrived with in Year 7. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a welcoming and inspiring environment, and I’m really looking forward to giving back to the school community and working alongside the rest of the Student Leadership Team for my final year here!
