Exploring Futures at the Careers Fair

The careers fair offered students a unique opportunity to engage directly with professionals from a wide range of industries. From technology and entrepreneurship to creative arts, journalism, and education, delegates shared insights into their fields and the different paths that can lead there.

Head of Careers, Miss Bradley, encouraged students to be brave, curious, and proactive in their conversations: “This really is one of the best opportunities to engage one-to-one with people from so many different areas within the world of work,” she said. “Everyone here wants to talk to you – ask questions, find out what excites you, and what doesn’t.”

Throughout the afternoon, a series of workshops gave students the chance to explore specific themes and gain practical advice. Emma Cosgrove, Chief Operating Officer at Infratech Digital, led a lively session on Women in Technology, discussing innovation, leadership, and the importance of representation in STEM. Willow Herold, Director of Global Schools Partnerships at InvestIN, spoke about The Importance of Work Experience, sharing how real-world exposure can help students make informed career choices.

Karen Kimura, GDST’s Careers and Employability Manager, ran a session titled Where Do I Begin?, offering guidance on developing employability skills and standing out during recruitment. There were also fascinating insights from Dr Ashok Suppiah, a technology entrepreneur with a mission to drive sustainability through sport, and from two Putney alumnae – Yewon Kim (White Cube) and Claudia Jacob (Monocle Magazine) – who returned to share their experiences in the creative industries and journalism.

The event was buzzing with conversation as students made the most of the opportunity to connect, ask questions, and consider new possibilities. For many, it was a moment of genuine inspiration – a glimpse of what their futures might hold and a reminder of the exciting paths that begin right here at Putney.
