Careers Fair 2025

The biennial Putney Careers Fair once again took place this autumn. We were thrilled to welcome visitors representing a huge breadth of careers from across the Putney community – from parents to alumnae and friends, the calibre and variety of the careers represented was clear from the exciting and thought-provoking workshops and conversations taking place across the site.

Students took part in fascinating workshops including from Dr Ashok Suppiah, Technology Entrepreneur, who shared some of his life experience and advice about pursuing entrepreneurship; Claudia Jacob (class of 2017), writer for Monocle magazine exploring the incredible variety of a career in journalism and Yewon Kim (class of 2009), curator at White Cube who helped pupils to see the interconnectedness of arts with more traditional academic subjects.

In the Performing Arts Centre, pupils were able to speak to more than 40 guests at a huge variety of stalls. From Alice Maughan (class of 1998) who after a successful career in PR and journalism recently completed a Law Conversion course to become a family solicitor, to Catherine O’Kelly (class of 2002), who is now CEO of Calisen, the leading owner and manager of smart energy infrastructure assets in the UK, Putney alumnae truly excel across a broad variety of careers. Dr Sancy Low shared her fascinating career as both a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Business Owner, and Joanne Chammaa spoke to pupils about her varied career in interior architecture and design.

Bella Cutler (class of 2019) and Katie Glazebrook (class of 2020) surprised one another when they discovered that, having not been in touch since their Putney days, they were both working for the same organisation – Fieldhouse, which supports tech startups with strategic communications.

Whilst the careers represented across the site were broad, alumnae all spoke about the core tenets of their Putney education – a belief in hard work, kindness and an inner confidence that is instilled by the culture of modern scholarship. These attributes are evident to this day as our pupils curiously asked questions to everyone from army recruiters to software engineers, theatre technicians to managing directors. Thank you to all those who contributed to the fair, and we look forward to the next one!
