Best of the Best - Creative Arts - The Week Independent Schools Guide 2025

“From triple-Oscar-winning Mad Max costumier Jenny Beavan to Disney actress Sophie Simnett, many Putney High School alumnae had their first taste of the limelight here. Drama is ambitious at this London school, with girls often going on to work professionally on stage and screen.

“Facilities include a Performing Arts Centre, an outdoor stage, a “fringe feel” drama studio and a dedicated Lamda studio. Productions include chamber concerts, opera, whole-school musicals, a show at the Edinburgh Fringe and an annual dance show led by a Pineapple Studios choreographer.

“Putney’s textiles department is led by the ex-menswear designer at Valentino. Pupils pursue creative arts at top colleges with some, such as designer Emma Hill and Savile Row tailor Rachel Singer, going on to set up businesses.”
