Putney’s student athletes made their mark this week as teams saw success in national and regional tournaments.
Under 12 and Under 13 teams in Cricket and Netball were crowned Surrey Champions with the Under 15 Cricket team securing second place in Regionals and the Under 13s becoming National Champions at the finals in Stoke-on-Trent.
National successes were also achieved in Lacrosse, Gymnastics and Fencing.
Under 13 and Under 19 Gymnastics teams competed at Milano British Schools Floor and Vault National Finals. The Putney Under 19 team achieved an impressive third place finish while the Under 13s gave outstanding performances to become National Champions.
Both the first and second Lacrosse teams qualified for the Premiership Division. The first and third team finished in the top 16 while the second team achieved a remarkable Top 4 finish at the weekend. At the final day of the championship, our Under 14 team finished in the top eight while the Under 13 team were crowned National Champions.
To round off an extraordinary week, Putney excelled at Fencing with students achieving fifth place in the foil category and winning silver in the Epee category at the British Schools’ Fencing Championships.
