It was a real privilege to host celebrated neurosurgeon Dr Henry Marsh CBE at the launch of the PIE+ lecture series last night.

Over 250 students, parents, staff members and members of the public attended the evening lecture to hear about Dr Marsh’s experiences working in brain surgery around the world, the challenges he faces making life and death decisions as a doctor and how learning about the inherent flaws in the human brain helps us to better understand human nature.

Dr Marsh is well-known for his candid speaking on the reality of life as a brain surgeon and turned his intimate diary into the best-selling bookDo No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery; audience members were treated to his insights on doctor ego, why surgeons should not be congratulated and how developments in medicine can dramatically alter your career.

After his lecture Dr Marsh answered questions on neurosurgery from a packed audience.
