Natural Nourishment at COP27

General, News, Senior School

Three year 9 students have had the opportunity to present their app prototype via video to assembled Commonwealth representatives at COP27.

Darcey, Sophie and Sana have been working with Lumi to develop their problem-solving skills and come up with innovations to tackle climate change. The team’s project is an app to combat deforestation by reducing the use of palm oil, particularly in school lunches.

Their ‘Natural Nourishment’ app focuses on two main areas:

  1. Connecting schools to palm oil free food suppliers
  2. Educating students about common food items that contain palm oil and their alternatives, via podcasts and information pages on the app.

The team hope to pilot their app at Putney and then extend its use across the GDST.
