Events, Rowing, RSA Events, Senior School, Sixth Form, Sports

On 24-26 May Putney’s rowers represented the school at National Schools’ Regatta at Dorney Lake, the most prestigious event in the schools’ rowing calendar. The regatta offers six-lane rowing racing to competitors from 14 to 18 years old who enter from schools and rowing clubs across the United Kingdom.

This year, Putney’s very own Lucy was chosen to adorn the programme for the event and we had 15 entries over three days, including for the first time a Championship 8+ .

The Senior Squad had a fantastic regatta, coming 6th in the Club’s first Champ 8 final, and then winning a Bronze medal 🥉on Sunday in the 4- in an extremely exciting finish which saw them come from fifth place to beat Latymer Upper to a medal position.

The J16 squad raced with grit and determination to win 1st place in the B final of the 4+ in style. The 2x raced on the Sunday looking smart and classy.

The J15 squad raced two 8s with the 2nd 8+ winning the Club’s first 8s medal – a Bronze 🥉in J15 2nd 8s!

Finally, the J14 squad raced in three octos in their first National Schools Regatta and all three made finals in their respective categories. It is the first Nat Schools Regatta where we have won two medals. In previous years, Putney has come away with Bronze, Silver and Gold across various events.

Massive well done to all the girls and thanks to the Rowing Supporters’ Association who hosted parents and supporters throughout the three day event in a marquee along the course.
