Music department on tour – Paris trip 2022

Music, News, Senior School, Trips

The Music Department had a wonderful time in Paris, performing to large audiences in the most beautiful of churches. Thank you to all the students who came with us and made it such a fantastic trip.

At the start of half term, Chamber Choir and Chamber Orchestra, along with our instruments, travelled to Paris for a long weekend of music-making, concerts, sightseeing, and fun. After performing our pieces to the French public in two different stunning churches (with amazing acoustics), we explored the city and visited famous landmarks such as Montmartre, Montparnasse and Panthéon, as well as going on the Bateau Mouche river cruise where we saw the iconic view of the Eiffel Tower, and having lunch in Jardin du Luxembourg. There was a perfect Parisian mix of high quality music and entertainment, and there was plenty of time to make friends in different years who we will definitely share fond memories with about the trip in many years to come! I enjoyed the Paris Chamber Music Tour very much; I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is in choir or orchestra, and I cannot wait for the next tour in 2 years’ time!

The trip to Paris was so much fun. It was a great opportunity to dedicate time to perform and practise music and to have something so interesting to focus on. On top of that it was great fun seeing all of the sights of Paris, particularly all the churches. The ones where we performed were particularly beautiful and it felt like a great honour to perform our music in them. Lastly it is important to mention what a great time we all had with our friends and what a good opportunity it was for us to connect as a group of likeminded people with a passion for music. Overall it was a trip I would happily relive over and over.
