Music Careers Talk – Hannah Jane Lewis

Careers, General, Guests, Interview, Music, News, Senior School

Hannah Jane Lewis is a professional singer who visited us on Monday 9th December to talk to years 10 and 11 about her journey into the music industry.

Hannah moved from England to Florida when she was 14 years old, eventually studying Musical Theatre at New York University. Although she completed her degree, she realised that her real love was not musical theatre but being on stage performing her own songs.

On her return to the UK, Hannah started a YouTube account which lead to singing Pop Country at small gigs, and in 2016 she self-released her very first Pop single.

In 2017 Hannah signed her first record deal with Polygon Records an independent British record label. Hannah’s first song was called Raincheck, the song has been played on BBC Radio 1 and since the release Hannah has opened for Jess Glynne, Rita Ora and Shawn Mendes.

“Ask yourself the following questions,” she told her audience:

  • What are you good at?
  • What are you passionate about?
  • How can you combine your talents?”

“Don’t be afraid to do what you want, don’t let others tell you what they think you should do and don’t pursue something just because other people are.”
