Learning

Igniting the Spark

Our Junior School allows every pupil to leap into the driving seat, develop their thinking skills, and explore the adventure of learning with independence, excitement, and curiosity.

I can’t remember a single day when I’ve come home from school and not felt that I absolutely love it.

Year 6 Pupil

Junior Curriculum

The curriculum develops foundations in numeracy and literacy, introducing the adventure of foreign languages, encouraging creativity and developing skills in preparation for entry to our Senior School.

Curiosity is actively encouraged, and pupils enjoy being engaged, stretched, and challenged both in lessons and beyond.

Modern Scholarship

Through an ethos we call ‘Modern Scholarship’ our pupils build their skills and their confidence. We encourage and inspire pupils to develop, among many other skills and learning habits, the four key Cs:

  • Collaboration (in class; year groups; vertical groups)
  • Creativity
  • Critical Thinking
  • Communication

Pupil choice is encouraged, so as she grows, your daughter will have increased opportunity and freedom to explore and apply her learned knowledge, skills and interests.

Dynamic Learning

A dynamic and passionate team create vibrant learning environments that prioritise autonomy, collaboration, and discussion. Pupils are taught primarily by their class teacher, with specialist teachers for Computing, Languages, Music, P.E. and Science being introduced as they progress through the school.

We encourage pupils to be self-starters from day one with plenty of intellectual, musical, creative and physical challenges to engage and inspire.

IGNITE programme

Our Junior School IGNITE programme promotes innovative thinking in even the youngest children through a series of events and activities, each grounded in enquiry, problem-solving and process-based learning.
