In conversation with Team GB’s Kyra Edwards

General, Guests, Rowing, Senior School, Sixth Form

Friday 5 June marked the end of Diversity Week and an opportunity for some of our rowing students to join Team GB sculler, Kyra Edwards in conversation. Kyra is outspoken about being a role model for black and LGBTQ athletes.

Kyra spoke about her experiences of being a mixed black athlete. There was also a Q&A session allowing students to openly discuss racism and the issues of micro-aggression, white privilege and taking the first steps to combatting these.

It was humbling to hear Kyra share her experiences and to discuss her thoughts on some difficult issues. Thank you for taking part in such a powerful discussion; an important step to changing attitudes and awareness of diversity within our community.
