House Drama Festival 2022

Arts, Community, In the Press, News, Performance, Senior School, Sixth Form

We enjoyed an excellent night of drama on Monday.  The evening began with the Year 8 and 9 pupils who performed the final dress rehearsal of the Shakespeare Schools’ The Merchant of Venice.  The pupils have been working really hard and are excited to be performing on a professional stage with two other schools at The Exchange Theatre in Twickenham this week.

We were also delighted to welcome Helen Lowe to adjudicate the House Drama Festival.  Mrs Lowe has worked in schools since 1989 as an English and Drama teacher and prior to that trained as a professional actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at Drama Studio, London.

Each House performed a 10 minute play created, written and directed by our Sixth Form House Captains based on the Oprah Winfrey quote “Unless you choose to do great things with it, it makes no difference how much you are rewarded’.  We saw rapping narrators, stolen diamonds, Dorothy trying to stop climate change and fairy tales being told from a very different prospective.

Mrs Lowe said she was impressed by the talents of our students and gave some insightful feedback to each of the Houses before awarding Ferrier with the House Drama Shield.  The Star Performer was awarded to Francesca K for her excellent role as Prince John and Highly Commended was awarded to Emilia R.  Congratulations to all Houses and their House Captains for an evening of thought-provoking drama and wonderful entertainment.
