The Pearson and Silver Awards are offered to GDST pupils to assist towards the cost of attending courses with a classical content, e.g. summer schools in Classical Greek or Latin at Bryanston, Durham or Repton Schools, University or King's Colleges, London, or Lampeter (Univ. of Wales). The awards are made on the basis of a number of factors including academic excellence in classical subjects and commitment to studying a classical subject at university.
This year we are delighted to announce that Amelia McB (left) and Tabitha S (right), both in Year 12, have both been awarded prizes which will fund them through an “Ancient Philosophy Summer School” run by UCL Department of Greek and Latin.
They will be studying texts by Plato, Aristotle and other Hellenistic philosophers alongside ethics, metaphysics and theories of knowledge.
