Foyle Young Poets 2020 – I Hate Poetry

Congratulations to Ahana B in Year 12 who has been selected by judges as one of the 85 commended poets in the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2020.

Ahana was selected from over 6,000 entrants and over 15,000 poems this year from across the world, an amazing and impressive achievement. Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19 the celebrations have moved online and take place today, Thursday 15 October, 1:45-3pm BST, via Zoom.

The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award is for poets aged 11-17. Since it began 22 years ago the Award has kick-started the career of some of today’s most exciting new voices. It is the largest competition of its kind and is free to enter. Each year 100 winners (85 Commendations and 15 Overall Winners) are selected by a team of high profile judges. The top 15 and 85 commended poets receive a range of book prizes, membership to The Poetry Society and continuing support from The Poetry Society.
