Farewell to another amazing Lacrosse season!

News, Senior School, Sixth Form, Sports

As we wrap up the 2018-19 lacrosse season at Putney with our final seniors match and awards ceremony on Thursday, it is easy to say it has been a rollercoaster of a year.  While we have had some lows, with several injuries to key players throughout the year and the usual, but still frustrating, cancellations due to weather, there have been just as many highs.

This year saw several of our players selected to high-level national and regional teams, numerous nail-biter matches against our neighbouring Surrey schools (with some of the best teams in the country) and incredible promise from our U12, U13, and U14 teams who excelled in their respective final tournaments by finishing top in their pools.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all of our players who commit so much time and energy to their sport, and (rarely) moan about the daily coach journeys and the mud-baths our practices can become.

And while we will very much miss our leaving Year 13s who have been exemplary role models for the Putney sport programme, we lacrosse coaches are so very much looking forward to the upcoming season; it has incredible potential to be one of the best Putney Lacrosse has seen.

The final senior match takes place on  Thursday 21 March at 4:45pm at St. Paul’s Girls School and is open to anyone who would like to attend and support our eight leaving seniors.  These girls epitomise sportsmanship and athleticism, and are incredibly deserving of a massive send-off so we encourage friends, family, and staff to come!
