EPQ afternoon 2022

News, Sixth Form, STEM

On Wednesday 16 November our Year 13 students put up an impressive EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) display, followed by presentations to students, teachers and parents. This event allows the students who have completed an EPQ the chance to present their projects and their findings as well as, crucially, answering questions.

There were a wealth of fascinating titles among the projects undertaken this year. Among the highlights are some particularly topical subjects:

  • Is the gut microbiome a major factor in the recent rise in atopic diseases?
  • Can capitalism help to mitigate climate change?
  • Was the 2008 financial crisis responsible for the change in the political landscape and the rise in nationalism in the UK?
  • Could stratospheric aerosol injection be beneficial to life on earth?
