Drumming West African Style

The girls in Year 5 thoroughlyenjoyed a day of African drumming workshops;  they learnt toplay complex rhythms dating back hundreds of years, with names such as ‘lekule’and ‘balakalanjan’, on two types of drums, the djembe and the dundun.  Thedrums and the rhythms were from various countries in West Africa and the wholejunior school enjoyed the distant sounds of beating drums emanating from thejunior hall throughout the day. Many thanks to FOPHS whose generous funds made the day possible
