Within the curriculum, we embed opportunities for all pupils to leap into the driving seat, develop their thinking skills, and explore the adventure of learning with independence, excitement, and curiosity.

Owning your own learning’ is at the heart of strong self-regulation and metacognition, and IGNITE is an exciting programme that brings this, and our core values, to the forefront of our teaching and pupils’ learning.

Grounded in inquiry, problem-solving and process-based learning, the programme encourages and inspires pupils to develop, among many other skills and learning attitudes and habits, the four key Cs:

  • Collaboration (in class; year groups; vertical groups)
  • Creativity
  • Critical Thinking
  • Communication

As the years progress and your daughter moves from one school year to the next, we will be exploring ways in which we provide greater opportunities for pupil choice regarding:

  • WHAT– within a specific topic or way in which to demonstrate a particular skill, knowledge or ‘passion’
  • HOW– explore how they demonstrate and apply learnt knowledge/skills
